We warmly welcome all Netherne residents aged 55 or over to come and join our new social group.

We meet every Monday 11:00am – 1:00pm at Netherne Cricket Pavilion 

Tea, coffee and cake will be available for a voluntary £2.00 donation

Access to parking can be arranged if needed

Who Are We – A group of people aged 55+, who meet every Monday from 11.00 to 13.00hrs, paying £2.00 for tea, cake and good company at the Cricket Pavilion.

How Are We Funded – We are self-funding but NML allow us to use the Pavilion free of charge and NOTHRA helped with our initial setting up costs.

What Do We Do – On Mondays we meet, have a chat and also invite speakers.  This year we have had speakers from the health service, fire brigade, local councillors and many community groups including the Methodist Housing Association, Age Concern, Citizen’s Advice Bureau and many more.  We also have one to one IT lessons with the Tech Angels fortnightly.

We also run the Community Bus Service.   This year we have had two self-funded day trips to Wisley and to Denbie’s Winery.  More will be planned.

What we did in 2024 – Actively Support NOTHRA Campaigns – The Bus Petition to TFL, meetings with local councillors and transport officials and assisted with the Village Survey.  We attended the North Tandridge Health Hub meetings.  Met with our local councillors and MP and had discussions with Surrey County Council – Community Development Officer, East Surrey Transport Director.  Campaigned to ensure we all get reablement services if required when discharged from hospital irrespective of where our GP or hospital is.

Fortnightly Community Bus Service – In collaboration with NOTHRA and NML we set up this ‘Community Bus Service’ in September 2023.  It is important to note that it is not a bus service for the classics group and is open to all.

The bus runs on a Wednesday leaving Netherne at 10.30 am and returning at 14.00 hrs.  The aim is to take residents to local shopping hubs and garden centres.  The cost is £5.00 per person.  This service has never made a profit and mainly runs at a loss, so more passengers are needed!!!
