The next step of our campaign to get a regular local bus service in Netherne ( to run from Netherne to Coulsdon and back again) is the introduction of a new service called the Digital Demand Response Transport service (DDRT). 

It is so important that Netherne residents use this service in order to show Surrey County Council that we have a need. IF WE DON’T USE IT WE MAY LOSE THE CAMPAIGN ENTIRELY.

What is it?
This is an on demand local bus service run by Surrey County Council – please visit their website for more detail – https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/buses-and-other-transport/community-transport/surrey-connect

Currently the bus runs from Netherne to stops in Tandridge that include Oxted, Caterham and Nutfield. (Bus is wheelchair accessible).

In September 2025 – the third phase of this service will be extended to Reigate and Banstead.  This they consider may be a better route for us and hope to include Coulsdon and Old Coulsdon as out of area stops.

The bus is pay as you go (people with a senior bus pass will travel for free)

How to book it
The service is available to all and runs Monday to Friday 07.00 to 19.00 hrs and on Saturdays from 08.00 to 18.00 hrs.

To book a spot on the bus visit the Surrey CC website.

Step 1 – Register an account
Step 2 – Choose ‘East North’ as the territory
Step 3 – This will show you the map of where the bus stops
Step 4 – If you are leaving from your home you can add your home address in the the ‘from’ box
Step 5 – click in to the ‘to’ box and choose the bus stop you would like to from the map
Step 6 – Choose your departure time and date
Step 7 – Choose number of passengers (and if you need wheelchair access)
Step 8 – click ‘search’
Step 9 – Choose the journey that best suits you (this will tell you the cost – Senior bus passes are accepted)
Step 10 – Click ‘sign up and book’
Step 11 – Add your payment card details
Step 12 – Pay and complete booking
